Madekwe was born South London, England into a mixed family. She's English, and her father is Nigerian. Her family was in the South London Council Estate, and then attended The Brit School aged 14. She went to The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London where she gained an acting BA. While at the school, she was a part-time actor in several performances on stage, such as King Henry V playing Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe's acting career started with Storm Damage. In the years since, she's had appearances in guest roles for Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's debut film role was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), alongside Colin Farrell. In the wake of that film's success her role was Elisha in the single-episode BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in the six episodes of Trexx as well as Flipside as Ollie. Madekwe played Bambi as Bambi in The ITV2 show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe made an appearance in the Comedy film How to Lose Friends & Alienate People. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams and Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009 with her drama The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes before being ended on The CW. The actress was selected in February 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. After being a regular for the first two seasons, it was announced in May 2013 that Madekwe was set to leave the show after an appearance as a guest in the first episode in the season's third. In the television series Salem the actress played Tituba in 2014 through 2016. Madekwe was married to her long-time love, Iddo. The two have collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl in the past, and Goldberg was also on the show with Madekwe on the TV show Salem.

Ashley Leggat, an actress nominated twice for a Gemini Award, hails from the large Hamilton family. Her parents Roy and Patty and her brothers Brett, Todd, and Bram who were also present. Ashley's athletic brothers were avid baseball players during the summer months and hockey in the winter. Ashley never actually walked -she was a dancer, and at age two and a half she took up Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. That was the start of Ashley's interest in dance. After graduating from High School, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, lyrical, musical theatre and hip hop. She was the top soloist in big competitions, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, were all awarded to Ashley.
