On the 21st March, 2012 Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat made it clear at a press conference that Coleman was set to play the Doctor's companion alongside Matt Smith after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill have left the show. Moffat picked her to play the role due to her being the most efficient when working with Smith and was able to speak faster than the actor. She has however been more prominent on TV rather than in movies. Eva's appearances in the TV show The Dr. Maria Santos, in All My Children, and Detective Natalia Boa Vista in CSI Miami are notable. In fact, the character of the character Dr. Maria Santos in All My Children garnered the actress 2 Daytime Emmy nominations. This provided her with the opportunity to show off her musical talent.
